A woman’s breasts represent an important part of her self image.  Some may feel that there breasts have always been too small, while others may have lost breast tissue after pregnancy or weight loss.  For these women, breast augmentation (enlargement) may provide a way to improve their appearance and enhance their confidence and self esteem.

What is breast augmentation?

Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure in which a breast-implant is used to increase the size of the breast in order to increase fullness or projection.  Although this procedure enhances the size  of the breast, it does not always correct sagging. In order to achieve this, the augmentation may have to be combined with a procedure called a mastopexy or breast lift.

The procedure is performed in an outpatient setting and is well tolerated by healthy patients.  There is usually a brief recovery period required before the patient can resume most daily activities and this may vary depending on the person.
